Liberty Ship Ltd. often participates in pro bono programs to help with those who are less fortunate and/or morally compromised. One program is called, "Lawyers Without Yachts!" : )

Great web site, Captain...
'make it so'...;)
Honorable journey. Time tested and true...Good to see you on line...

here's a poem for you...
"Sea-Fever"

I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.

I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

By John Masefield (1878-1967).
(English Poet Laureate, 1930-1967.)

Captain Craig,

I just came from your website, where I was looking over the FAQ's in The Liberty Ship Ltd. Management section at http://www.libertyshipcharters.com

I am still confused about the answer to the following question found in the FAQ:
"What if no person in our group wishes to Captain, Crew and Manage the vessel, what will happen when Craig and Karen release interest in it after their annual contract is up?"
Would you mind saying more on this subject if you have
the time? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
Kimber
PS Nice site. Simple, straight forward...

Thanks for this input - I'll need to re-word the answer to that question on the site (regarding management after Craig and Karen leave the project)

There are many options the members of the group may elect regarding how they manage their boat.

However ...

Each project - (each boat) is legally structured, chartered and managed as it's own corporation - of which each member is a share holder of the corporation!

Members must elect a "managing member" (CEO). This is done similar to how a board of directors elects the CEO of a corporation. - Same "checks and balances" that are a necessary process for any successsful project, corporation or group of any sort.

Most "collective Co-Operatives" fail dismally because members fail to recognize the importance and "mechanics" of corporate management. This is why each group will likey elect to remain a Liberty Ship managed company - Utilizing the business principles (by laws) outlined in Liberty Ship Articles of Association.

Capt,Read your short intro to 'Reap' and would like to applaud your philosophical approach. I'd like to help by offering one improvement to a definition of the word "Liberty". For use in my system, I have accepted the Libertarian position that Liberty is freedom to act solely on one own judgement fully accepting the responsibility for the consequences of one's actions.
If you wish to coorespond with me about my definition, I can be reached at info@rogersrocketship.com Thanks and good luck jon

Jon - Your definition of Liberty is spot on. Thanks for your note here ! I will keep in touch.

"Probably the hugest burden to philosophy are the linguistic limits by which things can be said and understood. All languages are inherently limited by, and subject to, the paradigm / matrix / world by which they have been created. In short, if you are going to think outside of the box, your mind is that of a rebel. You are very, very much on your own."
